A horse in a team scarf slumped against a stadium rail, megaphone dropped, whispering a cracked neigh
HOARSE(HORS)adjective

How a card works

Hang the new wordon one youalready know.

A mnemonic only works if the hook is familiar. So every link is a plain word or phrase a student has heard a thousand times.

  1. The link

    Hear it.

HOARSE sounds like HORSE. The link is always a word you already know, never one you have to look up.

  2. The picture

    See it.

A horse in a team scarf has cheered himself hoarse. One gag, readable in about two seconds, and it carries the meaning.

  3. The answer

    Grade it.

Flip the card for the meaning and three sentences. Then say how well you knew it, and the app picks when you see it next.

How studying works

A few minutes a day,and the schedule does the rest.

Each card comes back on its own clock. This is one new word, graded Good every time it shows up.

  1. First look
  2. 10 min
  3. 1 day
  4. 3 days
  5. 8 days
  6. 20 days
  7. 50 days
Misses come back first.
Grade a new card Again and it is back in a minute, then ten, until it sticks. A word you forget after weeks relearns from a shorter gap.
Built for a phone.
It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install. One card fills the screen, with the picture big and the grade buttons under your thumb.
A quiz every ten new words.
A short quiz checks that the meanings landed and sends any misses straight back into the pile.
15 new words a day.
That is where it starts, and you can change it in Settings. Reviews are never limited.
